Chocolate Angel Food Cake

Chocolate Angel Food Cake by Hayden Haas

I was trying to come up with an easy way to make angel food cake, and i’ve never seen a chocolate one before.. or is that devilsfood cake? or is devils food cake just chocolate cake?

I personally am not digging that eggs are so expensive right now, seriously considering becoming a homesteader or a person who cans all of their food so it can last for years.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.

Prep Time: 5-10
Total Time: 1hr complete recipe
Servings: 6-8

Ingredients

1 box of angel food cake from @bettycrocker holla at ya boy

½c to ¾c of unsweetened coco powder (depending on how chocolatey you want it to be)

1tsp almond extract -optional

1 1/3c water

Hot fudge or melted chocolate chips or even a nutella situation

1/4c Sliced almonds

A small chocolate bar, shaved into little chocolate bits

Other optional toppings: cherries (fresh or dried), cut strawberries, I also like to serve with some ice cream in the middle of the cake

Directions

Tip: When loading this into the pan youd like to use leave about 2 inches because this yummy cake is going to rise and expand, bake on a baking sheet just in case

Set oven to 325

To a large bowl add the cake mix and cocoa powder and whisk until combined. Add the extract and water to the bowl and whisk or use a handmixer for about 3-5 minutes until its fluffy as heck but make sure not to eat the batter on this one because it's like a mostly egg and flour batter. If you don't have an angel food cake pan like I didnt you can use a bundt pan or make little loaves of angel bread. Distribute the batter into the cake pan or loaf pan UNGREASED, again, do not grease. Bake this for 35 -37 minutes seems to be the perfect bake time. Its going to be like a crinkly crusty baked look on  top and probably coming over the pan but thats okay remember this is a puffy airy cake. Let it cool for like 5 minutes in the pan and grab a rubber spatula so we can pull the Base of the cake away from the pan safely without breaking it, its best to do this a little warm, when you've loosened the edges it can get a little tricky, so utilize hot pads.I recommend the upside down plate method and getting a little jiggy with it, by that, I mean jiggle it so it comes out on the plate. Pour over the melted chocolate situation and top with desired toppings!
