Shayla’s Apple Crisp, This is your sign.. to make apple crisp for someone you love!
This makes about 9-12 slices or servings
Prep:(10 minutes if you chop your apples like I did) less if youve got a fancy gadget
Total: 1hr
Ingredients:
Cooking spray
5-6 apples (you could do a mix!) cored and sliced
2 tsp Vanilla
¼ tsp All spice
Some freshly grated Nutmeg (about ¼ tsp)
3 tbsp - 1/4c granulated Sugar
1 tsp Cinnamon ( you could also use cardamom)
A pinch of Salt
Juice from ½ Lemon
For the crumble:
1c Flour
1c Rolled outs
1c Brown sugar
1/4c Granulated sugar
1-2 tsp Cinnamon dealers choice
1 stick butter, unsalted cold, cubed
Serve with vanilla ice cream
Set the oven to 350 degrees, lightly grease a 9x13 casserole dish with cooking spray and set aside.
To a large bowl, add the apples, vanilla, all spice, nutmeg, sugars, cinnamon, salt and lemon juice. Mix until the apples are well coated. Add the apples to bottom layer of the casserole dish.
You can use the same bowl the apples were in for this next part, add the flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, granulated sugar and butter, use a fork to combine the butter to the mixture, until it feels sandy but the butter is rolled into pea sized pieces. It should be soft and magnetic sandy feeling. Evenly distribute the crumble on top of the apples.
Bake for 45minutes up to 1hr depending on your baking dish, youll know its ready when its golden brown on top, Let this cool for maybe 10-15 minutes before you try going in for a slice and serve with ice cream, this dessert is great warm or cold, store this in this in the fridge for up to a week. Enjoy!
